========== WRITTEN TEST ===========

“Wow, what a lovely day!  Don’t you think, Nick?”

The seal seemed rather oblivious to his partner’s ramblings as he made his way through the city.  As he entered the city square, his Chansey affiliate continuing to take in the sights and sounds, he noticed a number of others staring at him. “Nick” seemed unbothered by the attention; he failed to understand why so many Pokemon were surprised to see him walking on land.  Dewgong had very strong pectoral muscles, after all, and could easily move about on land.

As him and his rambling partner reached the main city centre, they saw that everyone was taking advantage of the warm weather.  A market had been set up in the square, and various merchants were peddling this and that on those passing through.  Engrossed in the sights and sounds around him, the Dewgong and his partner became lost in thought.

Suddenly, a blur of brown fuzz came careening out of nowhere, slamming into the Dewgong’s chest and sending itself flying backwards.  Instinctively, the Dewgong powered up an Aurora Beam…but was quickly stopped by his partner, who pulled him aside by his horn.

“Dominik, wait!  Maybe…whatever that is…isn’t a threat!” The Dewgong glanced over at the brown fluff, which had since sprouted legs and a face…it was a Furret, and it did not look happy.

The Furret stood tall on its hind legs, glaring at the pair with glazed eyes.  The pair figured he was blind…but the eyes seemed to follow their movements just fine, as he curled his paw into a fist and gave a threatening snarl.

“Watch it!” He shook his fist at the Dewgong, mere centimetres away from his nose. “Why, I oughta toss ya into the street for that!”

Dominik chuckled heartily, making the fluff’s frown deepen.  The Chansey gasped, quickly ducking in to calm the situation.  Her voice was steady, despite her obvious nerves. “We are ever so sorry, dear!  We never intended to hurt you…” Dominik’s laughter cut her off, making her sigh.

However, instead of beating them up as he seemed to have been intending, the fuzzball began to laugh along with Dominik.  The Chansey sighed in relief, then frowned, feeling a little out of the joke.  Noting this, the ball of fuzz wiped a tear from his cheek and stifled his chuckles.

“Heh, just joshin’ ya. Betcha figured that one out, huh Dewy?  I like your style.” Dominik smirked, covering his mouth with a flipper.  Smiling to himself, the Furret continued. “Only uptight nerds fight over bumpin’ into each other. You new around here? I’m guessin’... stepped outta the fog and got all confused? How close am I?”

Seeing as the Furret had calmed down, the Chansey seemed a lot more relaxed.  She glanced at her leader, who motioned for her to say what she wished.  Smiling, she explained in a honey-sweet tone.

“We were exploring the fog as part of our research back home.  However, we wandered in too deep and couldn’t find our way back.  After days of wandering around…we found this place.” She pulled a clipboard from her pouch, showing it to Cuffin eagerly. “This shows our results!  But…they’re pretty inconclusive.  We can’t make head or tail of what this data proves…”

As she continued to jabber on about statistics and values, Cuffin yawned and spoke over the top of her. “Yeah…don’t think I haven’t heard that one before.  Anyway… name’s Cuffin. Pleased to meetcha!” He thrust his paw into the Chansey’s hand, shaking it vigorously. “Now, how ‘bout you tell me who ya are?”

The Chansey smiled uneasily, slowly drawing her hand away from his grasp. “Yes…well, my name is Heidi, but you can just call me Didi!  My leader over here is Dominik.” The Dewgong waved, giving Cuffin a small wink. “We’re a research team…but not much more.  We don’t really get along…”

Cuffin dodged to one side, narrowly avoiding a fruit cart.  He seemed to be able to make his way through the crowd just fine, despite his initial appearance.  Heidi glanced at Dominik; she knew he was in on the joke.  The Dewgong just smiled at her, not giving anything away.

The Furret nodded matter-of-factly, puffing out his chest in a show of false bravado. “Not bad, not bad. I wouldn’t name my kids that… but hey, it’s a free world.” Heidi started to protest, but was cut off by Cuffin. “So, you guys lookin’ into the guilds here? They look pretty desperate for newbies. Think you’d wanna join one of ‘em?”

“Oh yeah, I heard about them.” Dominik patted Heidi on the shoulder with his fin, grinning as he spoke. “Well, since we’re researchers back home, I think it’s only fair that we be researchers here too.”

The crowd became thicker as they reached the centre of the square, and Heidi noticed the Furret had some difficulty keeping up with them.  Unbothered by this fact (she hadn’t particularly warmed to this intriguing gent), the Chansey pressed a hand into Dominik’s shoulder and roughly pushed him along.  She was kind of hoping to lose him in the crowd; his outward nature was making her a touch uncomfortable.  Dominik didn’t question her motives, choosing to go with the flow instead.

As they reached the end of the stretch, they found the forsaken Furret waiting for them.  He flicked his cap up, grinning at them slyly.

“Really? I wouldn’ta pinned ya for that type.” Heidi frowned, disapproving of his sarcastic tone. “I guess they’d be glad to have ya, though. From what I know, they always want ya to have some kinda “team name” to work under ‘em with. What do ya think yours would be?”

Before Dominik could reply, Heidi cut in. “Well, the alias we were previously going under should suffice.  We were known as…”

“Team Foresight.” Dominik winked at Heidi, who frowned at him.

Upon hearing their alias, Cuffin was silent, keeping a straight face for a few moments.  However, he couldn’t keep his poker face for too long, and soon broke out a large, amused grin.  He chuckled softly, before continuing with his interrogation.

“Well, ain’t heard that one before. You might not wanna walk into the rough parts of town callin’ yourself that… eh, or maybe do it anyway if you can handle yourself.” Cuffin laughed out loud again, making the Chansey’s frown return. “I mean, no doubt you can probably throw a punch, or maybe you’ve got a silver tongue. The guilds look for stuff like that. How ‘bout you tell me what ya think your strengths are, just to get your story straight for when they wanna know?”

Dominik began, placing a proud flipper on his chest as he spoke. “Well, I am the brawn of this group.  My strengths are in my physique…if you know what I mean!  I’m strong and agile, which helps for fighting, but I’m not particularly bright.  Now your turn, Didi!”

Heidi nodded, clearing her throat. “If Dominik is the brawn, then I am the brains of the group.  I am very well versed, unlike my rough-and-tumble colleague, and a lot better in social situations.  We balance each other out quite well, if I do say so myself.”

Despite his earlier demeanour - busting their chops at every opportunity – Cuffin was respectful as they told him their strengths.  At the end he remained silent, nodding and rubbing his chin with a furry finger.  He waited to ensure they were done, before smiling and saying his part.

“Yeah… yeah, I can respect that. Everybody’s gotta get by in their own way, and there ain’t nobody who knows that better than me. If you play on your strengths, you’ll get far here, I bet.”

Heidi blinked, a little taken aback by the sudden sentimentality. “Um…well, thank you Cuffin.  We’re flattered to hear that.” Dominik nodded in agreement, respecting the sappiness of the moment despite it boring him.

Shortly afterwards, Cuffin stepped out in front of the pair and stopped, halting them in their tracks.  He grinned at them, tipping his cap to them in a friendly manner.

“Well then…I hate to deprive ya of my presence, but I’ve gotta bounce. I’m sure you’ll see me again, so don’t sweat it. I’m sure the guild’ll love to have ya.”

With one final chuckle, Cuffin bounds away through the crowd.  He manages to narrowly yet stylishly avoid collision with several other Pokemon, before bounding onto the rooftops and disappearing.  Heidi frowned, suspecting that their meeting had not entirely been chance.

Laughing a little, Dominik bumped her shoulder a little too roughly.  Heidi winced slightly, rubbing the bruise as her cheerful partner began to charge ahead. “Come on then, Didi!  Let’s get this party started!”

:iconpmdunity:
This team is no longer in use.
I thought I'd go with something a little bit different with this team.  Instead of making them friends or partners, like most seem to, I decided to make them more like work colleagues.  This makes them quite interesting to write for, because they're not as in-tune with each other as my other teams have been.

Also, I tried to pick two Pokemon that I haven't really seen.  So...Chansey and Dewgong.  Yeah.  Enjoy.

Dominik (Nick)
Male | Dewgong | Jolly, somewhat of a clown
Nick is a light-hearted fellow, always cracking jokes and making light of any situation he's put in.  He can be a little lazy, despite him being a leader, and tends to let his partner do most of the work.  While not the brightest bulb in the box, Nick isn't stupid.  He won't fall easily for tricks, and often sees through them due to his love of pranking others.  Sometimes his jokes can be inappropriate, but he generally means well.

Dominik is mostly offensive in battle style.  He tends to be the first to attack in any given situation, making way for his team mates to do what they need to do in the background.

Aurora Beam: Nick shoots a rainbow-coloured beam from his gaping jaws.  He often uses this move to freeze the ground and make it easier for him to move over.
Signal Beam: This bright beam is often used to signal other team members, but can also be used as a strong medium range attack.
Water Pulse: Water is fired in a pulsating stream towards the foe.  The waves cause the foe to become entranced, and may confuse them as a result.
Aqua Jet: A rapid-fire attack that sees Dominik charge full-speed at the foe.  This move almost always hits the foe before they have a chance to react.

Heidi (Didi)
Female | Chansey | Gentle, capable of taking hits
Didi is the thinker of the team, always figuring out the best ways to tackle a problem.  She is pretty serious and doesn't like it when others muck around, which often leads to Dominik teasing her.  Her caring nature comes to light in times of need, however, as she takes on a more motherly persona.  While gentle in nature, she can be rather vicious when angry, so watch out!

Heidi works best in a supportive role.  She heals her allies and helps them power up in battle.

Softboiled: Using the nutritious egg in her pouch, Heidi can heal herself or one of her team mates.
Aromatherapy: Heidi casts a soothing breeze that flows among her team.  This breeze heals all status conditions in the team, including her own.
Helping Hand By transferring some of her strength to a team member, Heidi helps them to double their power.
Skill Swap: With psychic abilities, Heidi switches her Ability with one of her team mates or her opponent's.
